STM Opera & Harbour Case Reviews

Opera - Excellent drop protection & lay on table design
So I had the chance to review the Opera and Harbour cases from STM this week. You may not have heard of the brand but these are some of the best iPhone 5 cases I have tried. When it comes to making cases they really know what they are doing, from providing great lay on the table designs to excellent cut outs for all buttons and ports. The Opera and Harbour cases give you great protection for your day to day usage but doesn't compromise the beauty of the iPhone 5's design. It must be said that I love the attention to detail for things such as the indentation in the case around the button cut outs to make it easier to press the buttons.

First we will take a look at the STM Opera case. This is a flexible yet rigid case all in one. What this means is that it will give you excellent protection because when the case is applied it takes a rigid form, but has some flex in it to absorb some drop shock. The case comes in a plethora of colours but all feature a tyre tread pattern on the back with minimal branding. Another feature that I love about the Opera is the fact there is a cut out for the sleep/wake button as I haven't had much luck with cases such as the candyshell that cover the button and make it hard to press. Also I noticed that over time my sleep button seemed to be overly worn and I fear that was due to the button being covered and slightly pressed at all times. I am finding it hard to find anything wrong with the case itself, I mean it would be nice to include a screen protector or two but it's not a deal breaker. Harbour - Great protection with ease of access docking flap
Next we will take a look at the STM Harbour case. This case is very similar to the Opera with all the same positives; great drop protection, cut outs and lay on the table design. From the image you have probably noticed one large difference...the Harbour features a flap at the bottom to allow the iPhone to slide in and out, with the flap clipping over the bottom of the phone when installed. This design is similar to that of the Speck Candyshell Flip, which means the design lets you flip the lower part of the case to easily dock without removing the whole case, a pretty cleaver idea if you ask me. Both cases I must say have impressed me. Lastly lets talk about build quality and materials. These cases are near the higher end in terms of price and you defiantly get your moneys worth. The STM cases feel very high quality in the hand and there is no uneven edges and the overall design in flawlessly smooth all over.

Bottom-line: If you are looking for a case that will give you a decent amount of drop protection with high quality manufacturing then this I would strongly get one of these two cases. Don't let the price put you off, you will absolutely get your moneys worth and the cases will last.
