iPhone 5 Jailbreak Is Near!

We have all been patiently waiting on the edge of our seats now for iOS6 and the iPhone 5 to be jailbroken, and it seems as though the wait is almost over. A well known and well respected iOS hacker 'Planetbeing' has given us hope by stating the following:

"Yeah, I'm not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now. The reasons it's not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future, 2. iOS 6.1 is coming very soon and will likely break a small part of it anyway, there's no point in sacrificing the many bugs it won't break.

Anyway, where there are 4+ bugs (that it took to get this to work), there's gotta be one or two more so while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated.

This is not stuff I want to say over Twitter with 140 characters because I'm afraid of starting some sort of riot, but I like the smaller jailbreak community more."

In this quote, Planetbeing gives us a lot of hope. He explains that the state of the jailbreak community has been extremely exaggerated recently suggesting that it is not all doom and gloom, an untethered jailbreak is close. Releasing this untethered jailbreak now would make no sense as it would ruin an exploit that he wants to hold on to for the future of jailbreaking, and as iOS 6.1 is just round the corner, this milestone would appear to be a much better time to release this jailbreak. This is due to that certain aspects of this update would break the bugs they have found, in a sense giving ammunition to Apple.

It is true what he says, the jailbreak community has decreased in size quite a lot recently, but when this jailbreak is released this will hopefully kickstart it back to its former glory.
